GECKO employs a well thought out, detailed, replicable, and highly
professional methodology to accomplish its mission of helping agencies,
educational institutions, businesses, & non-profits become better stewards of
the environment. The five stages are described in brief below.
Stage 1) The Environmental Business Practice Assessment (E.B.P.A.):
In order to establish a baseline understanding of each organization’s unique
mode of operation as it relates to the environment, GECKO staff members
meet with authorized representatives to succinctly administer a 100-point
assessment. The assessment focuses on 6 major categories which include
‘Office Supplies’, ‘Energy Consumption’, ‘Reduce + Re-use + Recycle’,
‘Infrastructure & Construction’, ‘Vendors & Business Partners’, and
‘Corporate Kindness’.
Stage 2) Preliminary Green Change Planning:
Once a baseline is gathered, GECKO produces a confidential customized
findings report which both ‘recognizes & summarizes a organization’s current
best environmental practices’ and ‘identifies those areas with the potential for
positive environmental change’. Elements that also have the potential for
return on investment are separated from those elements that simply have
positive environmental impact. The report is tailored to the individual
company and comes complete with initial recommendations.
After the report is produced, GECKO staff members schedule and conduct a
meeting with authorized representatives to review the findings & determine
executive green change commitment levels.
Stage 3) Advanced Green Change Planning:
Once commitment levels have been established: GECKO collaboratively
maps out a business case sensitive plan to ‘evaluate the potential for mutual
funding opportunities, implement change, & measure results’.
Each Green Change Plan element GECKO helps craft is SMART (Specific,
Measurable, Actionable, Realistic, & Time-bound) by design.
Stage 4) Green Change Implementation Assistance:
After SMART Green Change Plan elements have been finalized and
approved, GECKO staff members are available via scheduled calls to assist
with a organization’s ‘test and learn’ or ‘full implementation’ efforts.
This assistance is guided by reference to a shared Environmental Process
Implementation Cheat Sheet (or EPICS) document which GECKO’s staff
continually updates.
The Corporate Kindness Experts Program is a major tool which can also be
used to overcome more difficult green change challenges.
Stage 5) Results Testing:
Finally, based upon the mutually agreed metrics developed earlier in the
Advanced planning process, GECKO will help organizations test for both
ROI impact and the environmental impact of implemented changes through
proven Business Development ‘Test & Learn’ techniques.
